Carrù, also called “ the door of the Langhe”, is located at the entrance of the Langhe (UNESCO’S World Heritage), an area in Piedmont of great historical interest and enchanting beauty, on the border with Roero and Monferrato, crossed by the Tanaro river, one of the most popular wine and culinary centers in Italy. The Fat Ox National Fair, started in the 1910, was born in order to enhance the local heritage of the cattle farming and today has become a traditional, commercial and folkloric event. The prizes are awarded to animals of better quality after a careful evaluation and classification carried out by a jury of experts. The 13 of December becomes an unmissable event for the inhabitants of the area, tourists from Liguria, Lombardy and other regions of Italy, as well as foreign tourists attracted by the typicality of the event and of course fascinated by the gastronomic specialties that have always distinguished the city of Carrù: ox boiled meat mix and tagliatelle with beef sauce.
